so my alternator i think took a crap on me, first the battery guage was reading fine and after a few days i noticed it was reading right above the red lines not the normal 14volts, then it slowly started to fade lower and lower, now the battery is dead and i think the alternator took a poop, however, my blinkers arent working now either, i followed the wires the best i could with the stock ford electical tape everywhere and didnt see anything wierd, is there a way to test to see if the alternator os getting power, or if there is bad wire or conection somewhere before i go crazy, the alternator is coming out this week because i got a mini torque starter so im going to have the thing tested but i would like to know if anyonw had the blinker/ flasher problem along with the bad alternator???? let me know thanks Klesse.

it sounds like the diodes for the voltage regulator went out but take it to a parts store and they can check it for you

I bet the horn kinda sounds like a dull fart too, doesn't it? When your system voltage drops, all kinds of wierd stuff happens - right before the car dies altogether because the fuel pump won't run or relays start de-energizing. Change the alt, charge the battery, and revel in your new found automobile repair experience!
