Talking 331 curiousity

Hey,
I'm toying with the idea of stroking my engine to 331. (Scat) I'm curious what kind of power I could expect out of it with a decent cam and edelbrock performer heads. (Holley 600 carb)

Also, what are the pros and cons between a 331 and a 347 stroker? seems like a lot of people have 347's, but I've heard that there at least used to be issues with the wrist pin messing w/ oil rings or something to that effect?

Any tips would be hot.

no reason not to go with a 347. i wouldnt expect much with the performers and a 600 carb.

the oil burning issue was a thing of the past

only reason to go with a 331 is if you want less hp and or you are constrained by class racing rules.

OK, so say I go with a 347, again, what kind of HP would I be looking at. I'd love to go with some AFR heads or something but that'll add a hefty chunk to the build which I don't have at the moment. might be able to upgrade the carb though if that would help. I'm looking for round numbers, not an exact analysis.

What about the block? i thought you had to modify the block slightly to avoid interferance with the rods on the 347?

piston skirts get notched slightly....and you can build a 347 with 280 hp up to 450-500 on stock block an b relatively safe..pending the tune, the h/c/i will be key

So creating a theoretical build here...

I get the 347, performer heads, what intake/cam would you recommend? btw, performers have had some porting done on them.

what kinda compression? to bad you wont splurge on the heads, it'll pick up some more power that way
