Default Fuel Sender Access

I have an '89 LX that has a faulty fuel level gauge. The previous owner replaced the sending unit hoping to fix the problem and it didn't. I plan on installing a new Auto Meter fuel level gauge that uses the factory OHM readings. I want to go ahead and run a new wire from the gauge to the sending unit. Can I gain access to the sending unit without having to drop the gas tank? Thanks.

didn't I answer that for you last night??...roll underneath it and on my 92 the harness is connected right onto the bumper core support = easy access, see if yours is too.

You might have. I probably forgot. I did notice a wire loom coming from the back, top of the tank. I peeled it back and found a yellow and black wire. I exposed the wire and checked the OHM's. I was reading around 50 OHM's. I think the tank is about half full. The gauge is reading a little over half. I clipped the yellow wire and it didn't change the reading on the gauge. I ordered a new Auto Meter gauge. When it comes in I will install it by running a new wire from it to the back and connect it to the yellow wire. Another question I had, I've read about the anti-slosh module. Since I will be bypassing this, does the Auto Meter gauge have a built in one? Just curious. I can live with it moving around as long as it is accurate.

you'd have to read up on the autometer gauge to see if it's incorporated as a feature....most likely not.
