Default leaking head gasket

i've got a leaking head gasket that i believe is causing me some smoke. i have plans on replacing the heads to gt40's when funds allow. the smoke is not terrible bad but a concern. with the gasket being bad, are there other things that can break if driven? how much is involved in changing the gaskets? will the timing need to be readjusted as i see when changing heads? i'd rather hold off until i have the replacement heads and intake to go with them but unemployment funds are not like a full time job funds.

You have to remove them.

Its an involved job, no way about it. Here is what you have to do real quick.

1) Remove Upper Intake
2) Remove Accessories
3) Remove distributor
4) Remove lower intake
5) Remove valve covers
6) Remove Head

(There are plenty of vacuum hoses and electrical connectors to disconnect as you go through this).

Remember to replace the head bolts as well, its not the best idea to reuse them.

Great point. You could have bad rings causing the smoke or bad valvetrain.
Open your radiator, any oil in there or low coolant ?
