Default Replacing Manifold gaskets

The last 2 bolts on the each side of the engine backed off on me and I tightened them up and i still get a ticking under load. Once the bolts back off do the gaskets blowout? Does anyone have any tips for replacing the gaskets or is it pretty simple?

Can I use any kind of loctite on the bolts to keep them from backing off again? Also what can I torque them down to?

I have never used Loctite on them and I'm not so sure it would hold up to the heat. You could try it, but use a medium strength. Torque spec’s if you look on-line you should be able to find it, I like most don't use a torque spec for exhaust manifold bolts. I just make sure they are tight. Also, many don't know this but you can use a good high heat RTV in place of gaskets with zero issues. In some cases it's preferred, but you need allot of room between the header flange and the head to properly apply the RTV.

stage 8 locking header bolts are your best bet, once they back off if you don't catch it soon enough the gasket blows out/ burns out

I looked into the stage 8 fasteners and they are a little over the top for my car by the time I pay to get them to Canada. I'm assuming mine are blown out for sure then because the back 2 bolts were able to come out with my fingers haha. I guess I will have to make sure they keep torqued.

remove all the center bolts and loosen the last two up a good amount. you should be able to pop the gasket out with a screw driver.

the new one just drops in place..

and I recommend these!

Those fasteners look decent for the price I may give them a try when I go with a new motor in the future. Guess I will take my chances for now since the gaskets are only 14 bucks anyways. You make it sound pretty simple now all I have to do is get up off my lazy *** and put them in. Thanks

dont take out the first or last bolt... otherwise you will be removing your mid pipe so you can get the manifolds lined up again

Alright, thanks for the heads up. I'm just after putting the midpipe back on definitely don't want to do that again.
