Default on my 6th clutch cable in a week.

ok so i changed my first cable out with one from carquest because it was stretched out and you had to have it to the floor to disengage the clutch. that one worked for a day and broke the crimp to the housing at the firewall. so i exchanged it for a new one that they said was revised and it broke the crimp down at the bracket where it holds it just before the clutch fork. after dealing with a few of these i switched back to the original stretched cable that was definitely worn out and shimmed it away from the firewall so it would work for a few days until i got the steeda cable i ordered. on the way home today it broke the cable at the clutch fork.

i ordered a new steeda adjustable cable and aluminum quadrant but i dont want to be wasting money having this one break again. The clutch doesnt seem to bind and the cables dont either.

i've been doing research on my 5sp swap and everyone says to use ONLY oem ford cables. the adjustable ones and all aftermarket ones are lesser quality. they also stretch very easily. so get the oem, if it breaks, you've got another problem.

was waiting for your post mjr. steeda claims that there cable is the same as the ford racing cable. the pedal effort is no harder than the original cable that was just worn out was. my dad says its a little hard but not excessive.

wow 6 cables? you either have really bad luck or theres something more then just a cable wrong. I swapped my original for a JEGS version that has the adjuster on the bellhousing and i also have a new quadrant/firewall adjuster and i can dial my clutch to engage way up top or down low on the pedal.

Kinda sounds like you have somethin else wrong other then the cable?

my positive way of looking at it is the carquest ones were pure junk and teh original i tried to make work again was frayed to begin with and when i shimmed it at the firewall it put more stress and broke the already breaking cable. Steeda FTW?
