It would only if you hold it in one place for a long time at which point it'd probably chew up the metal... anyhow make sure to put sealant in the corners, follow this pattern and re-torque the bolts atleast 3-4 times: Good luck!

I just use "the right stuff" gasket maker. Chances are you're gonna have two little cork gaskets that go on the ends. They're kinda prone to "slidding" anyhow, yes make sure to load up whatever sealant in the corners near them bolt holes.

not really sure, from what i read i dont think i can use it. its in pretty bad shape, probably needs some serious cleaning. i already took it off and its not on me right now. i believe i should be just using the stock or if i had an aftermarket (on my christmas list)

can anyone confirm this?

even now with the smoke and suction noise fixed (if you see the previous couple post) i'm still wanting to change out the intake. i was wanting to start today but got a very late start. i've got the intakes cleaned and painted. picked up the manifold gasket set (upper and lower).

anything else i may be needing?
still curious to know if i should be using the stock mustang or explorer tb?
and if to use the 19 or 24 # injectors?
will an adjustable fuel regulator be needed???
replace bolts?

just trying to cut down the amount of trips to the store. thanks

just an update...

got the upper and lower off. kept fuel rails connected. removed radiator, heater, coolant hoses. left dist, removed cap (honestly not wanting to take the dist off unless completelty necessary, nervous rookie hasnt gotten the idea of the whole stabbing idea). egr block will have to stay, hooked up or not, needed for the throttle cable. havent heard any good or bad about keeping or getting rid of the egr.

concern.... on 4 cavities of the heads with the lower intake off, there is some left over pretty black oil. is that suppose to be there? does oil circulate through between the heads and lower intake?

the wire wheel wont hurt the iron at all the aluminum it can dig up though. in college one of my professors in the diesel shop was a machinist at one time. he was very knowlegable, he swore be using wire wheels on the block and head mating surfaces if they were not going to be resurfaced. he shared many stories of head gaskets failing due to people using "cookie wheels" on mating surfaces since the can remove material and wire wheels wont. now wire wheels is all i use on those types of things

if i go with the 24"s will a adj fpr be needed, and anything else to make sure the 24's work right?
