Efi to carb swap question
I recently switched my car from efi to carb. i noticed everywhere i read it said to change out the distributor and coil, ignition. i kept the one off my fuel injected car and havent noticed any problems. i was wondering if anyone could tell me what the benefit would be to switch to a different distributor and coil. or ignition

I thought that timing advanced/retarded based off the pickup coil inside the stock dizzy? Therefore the stock one would be fine to use when changing from EFI to carb. You are only changing the way that fuel and air are being delivered. The computer changes the Pulse width of the injectors according the the RPM of the engine which is read from the reluctor ring inside the dizzy. So in theory using the EFI Dizzy with a carb would work as long as you retain the stock ECU.

what is the ecu doing when nothing is hooked up that the ecu relies on to go through the fuel/spark tables?
you can mechanically "lock" the timing and just leave it,cause the ecu is basically useless at this point anyway's
