on the way home the other night I downshifted to 4th to pass, went back to 5th and there was nothing there. I thought I missed a shift, so I tried again with no luck. I didn't get a jerk, bang, pop, grind, NO warning. 1st through 4th and reverse are fine, still no odd noises or anything--except now 5th is like another neutral. This thing was never the easiest to get into 5th, although it never seemed bad enough to concern me.

Any transmission gurus have some ideas what let go? I'm having a hell of a time finding a used tranny near me, and of course I'm short on time and money.

shift rail roll pin for 5th, shift fork for 5th, ect ect you'll need to pull the tranny and examine the 5th gear assembly inside the tailshaft housing
