car wont stay running

In some instances, the MAF has to be rotated a certain way to make your car idles or turns on correctly. Depending on how it's rotated it may not be able to read the metered air coming in and thus send a poor signal. As for the dizzy, did you say the problem occured after you restabbed the dizzy? Also, make sure you have no vaccuum leaks anywhere and make sure all the hoses and tubing are on tightly. Also, make sure the MAF is plugged in(yes, happend to me; the plug was never fully seated. It took me three weeks to figure it out).

the dizzy was stabbed right when the car ran and idled. it was when we set the timing at 10 is when it wouldnt run. i put a new one in last night and its in right and it still wont run. ill go check my vacuum lines and my maf now

Sounds like the dizzy is out. I know you said you checked it, but thats what it sounds like to me.
Start the car, get it running somewhat, then turn dizzy clockwise very slight, see if the idle picks up. If so your off a tooth.
