Question question about changing my gears

whats goin on guys, i just got done searchin but couldnt really find my answer.

i got an 92 mustang gt, its an automatic, and id like to throw some 3.73s in it. i am yes going to be buying the full install kit with the bearings but i was readin that if i have an automatic, it will mess up my shifts and cause tranny problems.. will a speedcal work on my car? or is it to old? i have no clue.. sorry for bein a noob i aint to great with cars

Gears should not cause transmission problems or screw up shifts in an auto, I don't know where you heard that from. You will just need a new speedo gear,to recalibrate your speedometer.

someone probably told him his tranny goes off the speed sensor in the diff

aod's are not electronic, the aode is, you have an aod, I'd however get an external tranny cooler

ya i was lookin at gettin a cooler for it. and i read the info on americanmuscle.com or w/e .. but ima still need to change the speedo gear correct? also i was lookin on summit and saw the package wit the gears/trak lok and install/bearin kit.. is that worth it? or should i get dif brand? cuz the ring and pinion are summit and i kinda wanted to get a ford racing brand .. but if summits fine then id probably go with that. thanks for the input guys

Your cars shifts will be the same. The only problem will be the speedomter will be off

Richmond Gears in that kit. The only thing it doesn't have is the friction additive which I'm not sure is needed...hopefully someone else can shed some light on that.

the ford racing gears are well worth the price and you'll need the correct speedo gear, 5o resto sells them
