Clutch wont engage
i have a 1989 mustang coupe 4cyl to V8 swap done, and having clutch issues. I can start the car without the clutch im guessing because there is no safety switch. But when i have the clutch to the floor and put it in gear the car still wants to go. I replaced the cable and quadrant with an adjustable one but that didnt seem to fix the problem. If it helps, there is some chatter coming from the clutch. I have searched but found nothing on this, only tips i got was the clutch might be stuck and starting it in gear would pop it out, but i havent got to try it out yet. If you guys got any ideas i would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.. BTW engine and tranny have a fresh rebuild with maybe 2000 miles on them.

ha i dont know how to put this without sounding stupid. ya when the pedal is to the floor, like im going to shift into first gear from neutral, the clutch doesnt keep the car from "going", it will take off in first gear with the clutch still to the floor.

Sounds like your cable is out of adjustment. Your clutch fork needs to move more to disengage the clutch. There should be an adjustment nut on the end of your cable where it meets the fork, tighten the nut (so it goes towards the front of the car). This should give you enough to keep it from moving while in gear with the pedal pressed.
