Default Oil In Radiator! Help!

Okay My radiator finally gave in and cracked. So I went ahead and got a replacement, but as soon as i took mine off I notice oil in the water. Yup i know possible blown gasket but, My car has never smoked and no signs of oil coming out of the exhaust so I ck my oil dipstick just to make sure i didn't see any water and again nothing. So I'm stuck with a decision to make. I just started upgrading my car with performance parts about three weeks ago. Its a 95 5.0 the last year of them too . So anyways I went ahead and put this K&W head gasket sealer and I'm running it for like 500 miles according to this friend of mine he has done it before. Now my dilemma is should I just buy a good set of head gaskets as soon as possible or just wait it out a few months and go ahead and replace the entire heads. It is a daily driver so please help me out cause i don't see the normal symptoms of a cracked head or blown head gasket. But I really don't know what is the best bang for the buck. so help me out please. Yes I will be doing all the work my self.

mjr has a good point, as the trans cooler built into the radiator could have busted as well, putting auto trans fluid into the radiator, I'm not sire if that is where he was going but seems possible if you don't have a blown head gasket. Should do a compression test to see if blown head gasket.

I'm sorry I have an auto and I did forget to ck the trans dammit that could be it and as far as a compression ck I will prob do that sometime this week but I'm more than sure its not the head gasket cause normally I see one of the several symptoms but then again it could just be one of those cars that has to be different!

if your coolant has oil residue, it most likely came from a fubar tranny cooler in radiator, cooling system pressure will often overcome gaskets and leak into oil system, but I have seen head gasket issues allowing oil to enter cooling system, most likely it is tranny fluid from a bad cooler....compare fluid color, get a sample and pull the dipsticks and compare side by side to the sample
