Default FRPP fox radiator

I put a thread in the general tech section....

But all I need to know is what must be modified on a FRPP aluminum radiator for it to directly replace the factory rad. I have no need for an auxilary cooler and I am running an electric fan.

As long as the upper hold-downs will will clamp onto the FRPP unit AND the FRPP unit will fit properly in the padded spots on the lower rad mount I will have nothing to worry about.

The FRPP catalogue says modification will be required. I can't get ahold of the FRPP techline to ask them this question. Is the required modification (if any) related to how it mounts in the vehicle, or how accessories mount to the radiator?

Thanks in advance. Long time no post here as well. I have been a member (under a different name) since late 05/early 06. I moved from Detriot to Minneapolis and found a local board here in the Cities so I haven't really been around here for a while. Like the new look!

Hopefully I can find time to post back on here and see if I can recognize anyone...

Is that Adder ***** still giving people a hard time 'round here

the last time I checked Adder wasnt the only guy on here with a 5.0 is he?? lol I never heard of people having to modify their cars to use a FRPP radiator.... as far as I always thought it should go in just the same as the factory with maybe a little change in the mounting of the fan, etc. depending on how you have your fan mounted in there now.

Adder isnt the only one but if i had a choice of who answered my questions. adder would be on my list.

on my 84 when i installed the radiator the new brackets totally didnt line up and the old ones werent wide enough. to this day it is held with some hefty zip ties.

When I installed my aluminum rad. on my '92 notch it required some sanding down of the bracketry to fit the width plus I had to use my trusty hard plastic hammer to "massage" the steel around the rad so it would fit length-ways. Good luck.

Thanks for the input. Perhaps I was misunderstood, though.

Adder wasn't necessarily my ideal responder, he was just the only guy I could really remember from this site.

Specifically in regard to the FRPP aluminum 79-93 foxbody radiator; fitment issues with the upper hold-downs and lower pads was my primary concern.

On the upper and lower brackets I just took a knife and a grinding wheel to the rubber to make it fit the width. Only takes a few minutes, works perfect.
