Exclamation OIL LEAK

i just recently rebuilt my motor. and it ran fine for about a month. now i did the work all myself. but it ran perfect other than a few spark plugs fouling out because if the fuel. but ive drove it about a month or more and now its leaking oil. it looks as if its dripping off the bellhousing. so i assumed its got a bad rear seal. but the thing is i put a new one in it. what would make them go bad like that, or is there any other possibility of what it could be?

unless you have a valve cover or rear intake leaking. Look to see where the highest point of wetness is. Did you use rtv or the crappy pieces of cork for the lower intake on the front and back? Are you sure its oil and not just really dirty trans fluid possibly?

we used that black silicone on the the front and rear of the intake. but we didnt use the cork pieces, we used the fel-pro rubber ones. i guess i could check the valve cover, on both sides, but it hasnt gave me any problems until yesterday, also one of my spark plugs is loose, and wont tighten up. could it be blowing out of there too?

Is it a OEM Ford real main seal, or Advanced Auto type?? ...makes a big difference!

sounds like you need to pull the heads anyway to fix that cylinder.

well what it is with the spark plug is when i put my motor in, i ended up changing my headers to a set of Heddman Long Tubes. the second cylinder back from the front on the driver side of the engine, the tubes were too close to the head for the plug and the socket to fit in there. so the guy helping me put those in only hand tightened it. yeah i know. hes stupid. so after a little bit of driving it works its way loose. but i got to thinking last night, it really cant be blowing oil out of there because there shouldnt be any oil in the spark plug port, right? so now i dont know what to do. but im starting to think now, thats its just leaking around the valve cover. i re-used my old metal valve cover gaskets, with new valve covers and i assume its leaking there now, cause the bolts were loose as well. but any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

it is probably your valve covers but as for the spark plug, i wouldnt drive it like that because it could blow the plug out and some of the threads with it.

A thin wall socket and universal and you could probably tighten the plug

Have you even looked/felt around the back of the valve covers yet? Take the 2 seconds to and you will know if it is leaking there or not.
