Default carb swap wiring questions

I just dropped a carb'd 351 into my 89. The ignition/electrical is the only thing I have a problem with.

The distributor on the motor is a Mallory. There are three wires coming off of it. red, brown and green I believe. Anyone know where to put these or any other wiring changes I need when doing the swap?

you'll need an ignition box of some sort I believe.......often mallory's website will have instructions in pdf format for specific distributors.

Mjr, what are the colors of the ignition wires on the 87-93's that would be cut to wire a box in? I have the 83 wired with a msd but I know the wires are different colors.

Well I looked up the wiring diagram on mallory's website and it said I don't need a control box. I can just use the dizzy and coil. I wired it exactly as it says on there and the car backfired when I was trying to start it for the first time. So I know it was getting spark. Then it just stopped getting spark. Switched the coil out and it didn't fix the problem... did i just mess up my distributor? any way to check those? its a mallory unilite

You need to restab the dizzy.

Ya I figured I'd have to do that. I probably was in a hurry and didn't even see if it was at TDC on the compression stroke or not when I timed it. Its probably 180'd out.

But any other ideas about why I'm not getting spark now?
