selecting a cam based on ptv won't give you the best of both worlds, you wanna max your combo and not have ptv, custom can offer you the best of both worlds here and for only 30 beans more, most decent ots cams run 270.00, custom 300.00 to 325.00 and with that , you'll get personalized service, not just a sale

With those 2.02" valves, you always need to check........ suggest not to buy pushrods until cam is installed and the correct PR length determined after a valve train geometry checkis performed. A custom cam will help avoid any PtV problems + provide the best performance overall, you may want to look into this alternative for the custom cam. LUK

If You have gone this far why not do the bottom end and install pistons with large enough valve releifs to handle a cam that can make so much more power. I'm all for the custom cam idea but for less than a 1000 dollars you could refresh the bottom end with pistons, balance and then have a cam that can really make the most from your heads. Even with a Custom Cam you will have to check PTV clearance. Those inline 2.02 valves are going to hurt you on this build using the stock pistons

Even with the stock cam you will need to check PTV clearance with those 2.02 valves. It could be an expensive lesson if you don't. I've never tried to install a inline head with 2.02 Valves onto a stock piston 5.0. We did a buch of the twisted wedge heads. I'm just not real sure on this one. Normally when we did this there was a fresh shortblock under them. Maybe someone else can chime in on this one.
