Took my tfi to autozone they couldnt check it because they dont have the connector, but I bought a new one anyway. Installed it and the car fired right up. Still spudders and back fires though and I think its a little rediculous but the tfi was 39.99 at autozone, at national auto it was 160.00 and at Advance it was 107.00 Autozone ftw!!!

it could be the pip sensor then or the distributor. I had a similar problem you are having, mine ended up being a bad rotor that was only 4 months old. I replaced spark plugs, coil, ignition module and spark plug wires with no luck. It was a $4 dollar part that solved the problem. I would keep checking the small things. By the way, how old is the dizzy cap and rotor?

I am not sure how old they are. At least a year, thats how long ive had the car. When I blew my coolent hose off and some coolent got in the distributor, would that cause the cap or rotor to go bad at all? I pulled the cap and cleaned all the contacts off and the rotor as well. What bothers me is, the car ran great today for like a 3 hour period, and now its spuddering again. ???? I mean if the cap or rotor went back they wouldnt magically be fixed for 3 hours.

when i had the problem similar to yours, my car was spuddering and jerking where i barely made it home. Then 3 days later the problem went away for THREE weeks! Days later the problem came back much worse, where i couldn't even drive the car all b/c of a bad rotor. Heres a pick of a rotor, compare the position of the metal tab to yours.

Still spuddering....so i installed a new tps. I tryed to set it with my voltmeter, I can seem to get a good read off of it. Sometimes it would be at .5 other times .2 .3 ect. What would be the deal with that. Tommrow I am going to get a new cap and rotor as well. What about that MAP sensor inback of the intake on the firewall, would that be doing anything? This is bothering the hell out of me, I have an exhaust leak between the header and h-pipe would that be throwing anything off like the 02 sensor? After I downshift it will pop and backfire while the rpms drop, and then when I apply the gas again it spudders the worst.

before you do anythinkg, i would fix the exhaust leak and set the tps. You might have to enlarge the 2 holes on the tps to set it. I had the same exhaust leak you had before. I had idle surge and power loss and it does throw off 02 sensors.

I checked the TPS again and moved it a little, the best i could get was .965 which should be fine. I will fix the exhaust leak tommrow. Could this possibly be an injector or faulty injector o-ring? I put new ones in when I changed the intake but could they not have seated right? Also I pulled the KOEO codes and got code 41 (System Indicates Lean -passenger side(R), No o2 Sensor Switching Detected. always lean -passenger side), this made me think of an injector
