Default EGR block off back of cylinder head

I remember this being discussed before, I searched with no luck. How are you guys blocking off the smog ports on the back of the heads? Aren't there plugs or something that they make to put in there?

I had some 3/8 inch steel plate laying around so I made a template and cut them out and put some hightemp silicon on them and bolted them down, and I havent had any problems yet

those are the Thermactor ports

and you should clean them out with carb cleaner and a battery terminal brush, then use 5/8-11 bolts, 1" long with a washer and red RTV

yea, your tellin me!

Turns out my RHS heads were crap... the machine shop that built them messed them up hardcore

RHS agreed to replace them, so I paid a little extra and they are sending me 200cc aluminums. But I have already bought a set of canfields to go on my motor... so the RHS's are For Sa....(i cant finish the rest of that because this isnt a B/S/T forum)

this is what i did. i went to sears hardware with the same advice adder gave you. but i ended up finding plugs that were i believe 3/4 of an inch long that were 5/8-11 thead. they are black and use an allen key. they worked perfect. threaded in flush (after cleaning the crap out obv) so there was no stupid looking bolt head and washers hanging out the back
