Is fith gear in a t-5 suppose to make a faint noise?
Here is the quick and dirty;
Rebuilt t-5 trans with 2.95 1 st gear ect.
My problem is when I get into 5th gear it whines .. slightly but consistantly.
I was told by a mechanic I respect that was normal and that sometimes you get gears that whine....
Is this right? Because it wasn't whining before.
Any comments , any similar situations.. with the noise that is.
Thanks

What is this 2.95 gear set you speak of?
If this is an upgraded gear along with a new cluster. It may have less angle on the gears.
This idea behind this is less thrust as the gear sees torque. Less thrust is less side load on the case.
In the end the straighter the gear angles, the more noise they make. Just like reverse.

quadrant shouldnt have effecting your gears whining unless it was the clutch whining. Gears shouldnt whine.
