Valve Spring Question

Valve Spring Question
I'm looking to pick up a set of GT40 locally for a mild 306 build. Plans are:
Speed Pro hypereutectic pistons
Stock crank and rods with ARP fasteners
GT40 heads, milled to about 58cc chambers
Valve Job (5 angle or my builder was talking about a competition radius valve job may be the same thing.)
Stock HO cam for now (Upgrade planned in future but not sure which one yet)
Crane 1.7 Rockers
I'm looking at the Trickflow Spring Upgrade which I believe can handle up to .542" lift.

Do you think that is a good spring to go with for the planned cam upgrade? (TFS Stage 1)
Thoughts on the engine combo?
Its going in a 65 Mustang and will be driven 3 days out of the week with the occassional auto-x and may see a 100 shot of nitrous from time to time. T-5 and 3.89 gears.

The springs will work, Have your machinist clean up the bowls on those heads just a bit before he does the valve job. Pass on the 5 angle and go for the three angle on a highly driven car. It's a solid combo but won't pin you to the seat, Nice for a daily driver. If you plan on hitting it with the 100 shot I'd put some forged pistons in just for peice of mind. They are only a few dollars more while you are in the building stage

would you happen to have any good info or point me in the right direction for cleaning up the bowls? Is this something I can do myslef? before I take the heads to him?
I'm not cheap, I'm just really trying to save as much money as possible. The wife gave me the ok to start building a dedicated strip car starting in Jan when I start my new job, but my DD/project car budget had to take a hit.

Yes you can do this yourself. You need a good die grinder and a Standard abrasives porting kit from Summit. They come with a nice little "How to port" booklet inside the port kit. It's very basic and will pay off good for the money you have to spend.

I have a nice dremel that I have used to clean up cylinder ports on 2-stroke dirtbikes pretty well.
Is this the kit you are refering to?

May go ahead and do the cam as well. The only reason I was holding off was so that I could save a little bit more cash and do the cam along with new lifters at once.

pass on the stage 1 and just run some good springs with the stock cam with the 1.7's if u are on that much of a budget and in that u should be able to knock off 12 second passes without the juice and if u cant u need to look in the mirror or something....................honestly..
