Default Finally....

so after waiting anxiously...my transmission guy came back from vacation (cause he decided he wanted to leave the day after i gave him my t-5) and did the work for me and ive got it back, hopefully going to be slapping that in today along with the DS.

ive just got a question on fuel management....my car was originally EFI and i converted to carb, ive heard im going to have to do a mechanical fuel pump...does anyone have more information about this or recommendations? any info will help. thanks!

Rick

I don't know for a fact in your situation, but you can run elec pumps on carb cars. I run holley electric pumps on my carb'd chevelle motor.

you can run either one. bot the thing i've heard people do most of the time is, drop the tank and pull the stock electric pump and put either a piece of hose in it's place to act as the pick up, or open up the summit catalog and get one of these

then run something like a holly blue pump on it

If you run a mecahical pump you have to use an open timing cover for a mechanical pump and run a fuel pump ecentric on the end of the cam. At any rate the right way would be to completly remove the in tank electric pump and either make or buy a pickup tube for the tank like the one listed above (I use that one) along with an external electric pump that can handle whatever hp your engine has. If you are getting up into some serious power you will need to run a new fuel line to the front.

Some guys run the EFI pump through a regulator. I don't advise this move. If you go that route carry a good Fire extinguisher with you at all times.

damn $100 for that! it would probably be a cheaper route to run a pick up tube...and running the mechanical sounds like a real headache...im going to look into doing the pick up tube with the elec fuel pump. the stock one is internal correct? how much will an external elec fuel pump run me?
