Default car runs hot?? wtf

idk if its just me but ever since i put the mac 1 5/8 shorty headers on my car it seems to run hott like a bitch...i just put in a new 306 ( built) with an s-trim and it has 4 core radiator,16inch e-fan and wiring kit with a new 180 thermostat ( kit recomended)..i find that the under hood temp is horrible and the gauge creeps up to the N in normal at times..

im not sure why its running hot but a suggestion. depending on the type of intake you have i suggest a phonelic spacer. i have a cobra intake and last year i put a spacer on it. now even in 80 deg weather the thing runs between 150 and 170 degrees pretty much most of the time. i didnt believe it would work that well until i saw it with my own eyes. sorry i cant help with the initial problem but thought maybe the spacer idea would be worth some thought.

Did you put the T-stat in the right way? The spring goes into the intake.
