There is no deal. I answered your question. It's not a job a run of the mill person can do. There is a lot involved.

So now you say you were laid off, sorry to hear it. Yes, the economy sucks, I have to work 2 jobs now because of it. Trust me, 16 hrs a day is no fun.
However, for someone w/o a job, I would not be worried about fixing your a/c. Then you say it doesn't even get that hot where you are so now you're looking to delete it. Sounds kinda contradictory. If it were me, as long as the pulley on the compressor is ok and you can drive the car, I wouldn't worry about it right now.

G/L in finding a new job. I hope it works out for you. What is it that you do for a living if you don't mind me asking and how old are you?

I agree with pro50sc, as long as the bearing didn't lock up and throw your belt just keep on driving it
