ok so, there were 2 leaks so i want to replace the seals, 1 was around the shifter, and one was around the rear tail housing, so i removed both and put in new gaskets/sealant. when i went to put on the tail housing it wouldnt go in all the way. I removed the shifter box thingy and it went in all the way, the thing preventing it from closing is a fork looking thing. I was told there was a trick to getting it on, like shifting in a certain order or something, can anyone help me out with this, i can get pictures tomorrow.

the shift block(block, spring, ball) must got on at the same time as the tailshaft. there is no other way. you just need to mess with it for a while. dont be a pansy man, it isnt easy but they will go together. also to make it easier. ensure you are in nuetral as you are installing, makes the linkage free to move around a little bit making it easier to land it in the designated hole.

if you cant find the hole...just put some hair around it
