Default Brake problem

I have a spongy brake problem with my car. First i thought it was a bleeding brakes problem but its still mushy when the car is off. It doesnt stiffen up like its suppose to.. So thats probably the brake booster right?

Are you losing any fluid? If not, it is likely the master cyclinder. If you are losing fluid start checking break hoses and wheel cylinders.

Low pads and or shoes would not cause a spongy feel in the pedal, they would cause excess travel.

Brake fluid level is fine. Master cylinder could be a possibility too

check the master and check the hoses for ballooning (swelling).

To check the master cylinder just unbolt it from the booster (no need to take the lines off yet), move it back and look for fluid on the back of the piston. If it wet, the master needs to be replaced.
