Default Clutch peddle snaps. Need your help!

Ive never seen this before but last night I was coming up on a light and my clutch pedal seemed very very stiff as i was pressing harder and harder it snapped and went straight to the floor. At first i thought i snapped the pedal but as soon as i take my foot off it comes right back up and becomes very stiff again!!! I again press the pedal and becomes more and more tense and snaps to the floor. the clutch does not engage. I managed to drive it home in first gear after turning the car off, putting it in first and starting it in first without the clutch.

The clutch cable is fully connected and it does not appear to be on the transmission side. it seems to be under the dashboard. what would cause this?

the big plastic thingy (what ever its called) that the cable connects to under the dashboard seems to be in 1 piece. when i begin to press the pedal you can see the shaft from the clutch pedal begin to rotate it and the plastic piece begins to move but then snaps and you can see the pedal shaft rotate when the plastic part does not.

and yes i spelled pedal in the topic wrong :/

update:
would this be the quadrant? i see it has teeth on it now and when i press down on the pedal it gets stiff, and the quadrant teeth seem to snap back. why would it be so stiff tho?

yes, that is the quadrant and they do go bad. the cable could be gone bad I would unhook the cable from the trans. and see if the cable moves freely if it does the Bearing retainer goes bad on the T5 that is the part that the throwout bearing rides on when you press the clutch the originals were aluminum and the replacement is steel. What happens is the aluminum gets galded up and then it swells making the bearing very tight on the retainer and it don't slide like it should. then the pedal gets very tight.

The cable is nice and snug all the way from the fork on the tranny to the quadrant, so this would just be the quadrant then? I cant move the fork but with my king cobra stage two i dont think my weak hands have that power anyways.

it most likely is the cable that is coming unravled in the inside of the casing and catching, if that is not the issue the TOB could be binding on the input retainer

have someone push in the clutch while your under the dash watching the quadrant. there are teeth in there and its self adjusting. it sounds like you stripped the locking tooth.

get a big screwdriver or short prybar and pop it off after removing the clip

Its some extra work, but if you take out the drivers side seat it becomes much much easier to do that job.
