I never actually knew for sure that it was bad, but I had a gut feeling that the car would not like it........

well my reverse was quiet as can be before i did the burnout, and now it is very loud and kind of has a chattering noise as well.

Also it feels kind of weird when you let the clutch out and engage tranny to engine, almost fels like its very fragile or something.

The T5 whines in reverse because the gear has a straighter cut to it as opposed to the helically cut first through fifth gears.

Anyone know what could be wrong or what I may have broke?

my bet is the cluster gear, sorry to say it's $300 for a new one, if you get a used one MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE IT IS CORRECT !!! you need to count the teeth for every gear on it and it has to be identical

how would i know this... yeah i toasted one too trying to run a guy over in detroit, bad wheel hop and completely lost reverse... pm me and i'll send a pic of it if you wanna see it

how much was the labour to replace the cluster gear? or did you do it yourself? is it a bad job? you would have to drop the whole tranny?

thanks
