Alrightly heres the problem my 351w started doing this in the spring. once i hit 5200rpm when at WOT it would just stay there with a weird noise. last year it was fine i could take it to 5800rpm if i wanted to. I just got my car street legal and now after driving on the street for a couple days it does that at 4000rpm. what the hell is going on?!?!?

if im in neutral i can rev it up as high as i want (at least i think so), but when its in gear it stops at 4000..

I have all aftermarket ignition.. the carb is a edelbrock 600cfm.. and i've got a aftermarket fuel pump if that helps.

maybe your timing is not advancing correctly. hook a timng light up to it and see how it advances.
