Default Frustrating idle.

Hi guys k well i have been fighting with my base idle adjustment and am now looking for help from the pros.

K install new iac valve old one crapped out. Cleaned out throttle body. Now i removed my air intake ducting, unplugged iac and started up vehicle, lowest i could get it to idle was 950 to 1000. Now for fun i unplugged my maf sensor and then the idle dropped to 650-750.

Now my question is can i do a base idle reset with maf disconnected, why can't i get it to idle that low on its own with maf plugged in. I have read past posts and no one meantioned having to unplug maf sensor. With everything hooked up vehicle runs at 1100 to 1000 not really that bad just more curious to why i can't bring it down with maf plugged in.

Any help appreciated i'm getting frustrated. Also i can back throttle screw all the way off and still vehicle will not go down to 750 on its own with maf plugged it.

well when i got my car it idled at 1500 all the time,so i unplugged the iac and it dropped a little.well i finally just left the iac unplugged and i also blocked it off because it was getting too much air at idle. and i have an adjustment plate to adjust the idle.and it idles at 700 to 800 now.

hmm that doesn't really solve my problem lol. I don't want to bypass the iac. Iac is brand new, just thought someone would have an explaination to why it would do this. I'm thinking im' going to try and new throttle body.

throttle body is not your proplem. WHy did you remove your air intake ducting? this cause no air movement threw the maf, which regulates a/f ratio.

though i have tried with air ducting installed. Still vehicle won't go to the 650-850 rpm with iac unplugged and throttle screw all the way out. Though with maf unplugged i can get it to idle at 650

leave the MAF plugged in. make sure the engine is warm. make sure everything is plugged in the way it should be. and engine running. unplug the iac and use the throttle to make sure it doesnt die and wait til it idles on its own then adjust the screw until it idles low like 700. turn the car off. plug the iac back in and see if it still idles correctly. next check ur tps and make sure it is in spec. then disconnect the battery for 30 min then take it for a nice long drive (20 miles or so)

and are you sure you are adjusting the screw properly? and also with every adjustment your idle may not change immediately. wait a few seconds. also check to make sure ur throttle cable isnt bound up anywhere. and after you adjust the tps the idle will prob be out of whack but just make sure the voltage is correct then shut the car off and turn it back on and it should fix that.

k i did exactly as you said. Plug all my connections back in, run up vehicle to operating temp, unplugged iac. Idle did not drop stayed the same, turned out throttle screw all the way idle did not change still idles around 1100 to 1000.

Is there something i'm missing i don't believe anyone else has this much trouble :P maybe i'm stupid. I'll wait to hear back from anyone who has any good ideas. ALso had ducting off and ran vehicle to see if i could hear any air going back the iac, did not so i'm gather thats good also being a new part. Hope to hear some ideas from the pros thx alot.
