My cars a simple H/C/I 302... I was just wondering how much advance timing you can get away with usually...

93 octane, hot weather if it helps.

mines at 14* you can go to 17ish but you may loose top end.. their is such thing as too much timming.. go 14 to 16 and check the seat of the pants dyno..

i have heard of guys running 18 and not having any issues. i personally would not go over 15. if you hear pinging(detonation) then you need to back it off.

Nice looking fox man.

and thanks guys. I built an entire engine bottom up and i just fired her up today for the first time about an hour ago. Its at 10 degrees advance at the moment, ill probably bump it 14-16 after i drive it for a while.

Oh, and one more thing. Can you guys give me a ballpark fuel pressure to set it at? i was thinking 42psi vacuum off, that sound about right? Sorry, im still new to all this, i know a tune would be best but thats not an option, for now.

you can run 14 degrees just fine on 91 octane, so if you have 93 where you live you can probably go for 16.

I would run between 38-40 if you have stock injectors / MAF. if you have 24's or 30's try 40-42 and see how it runs. If you get black smoke you have too much fuel and you need to back it off. You do have an AFPR?
