Default Porting Stock Heads

So I want a little more power out of my car but I have pretty much no money, Im saving for car insurance and college. Is it worth it to port the stock heads. I figure I can pick up a set of stockers for 50-100 bucks and port them and get new guides and all that installed. Im not out to make a all out race car I just want the heads to flow a little better. Is it worth it? I plan on doing mass air conversion and a cam later in the summer and I dont want the heads to hold me back.

Not worth the head gaskets required. Just keep saving and wait a bit..

+1, stock heads suck. if your on a budget, look at some gt40 heads. youll feel the hp difference without breaking the bank

+1 for the GT40's

i ported my stock head's and did get some more power, but nothing crazy. 15hp at the MAX and i doubt that even.

the little exhaust bump taken out will give it some.
If you want to spend 2 weeks on them, you could take them out to the exhaust manifold gasket.

I have seen a car run 7.20s with e7 heads and a 144 b&m blower. (nitrous too, he didn't claim it but, it was)

+5 on the gt40's, I gained respectable power by switching to gt40p's from stock heads. I would just wait until you can get some decent heads.
