Bad overheating problem *need some help*

220 is acceptable - I believe that is the factory operating temp.
As for your exhaust, try this:
Loosen all the bolts on the system and jack the exhaust up with a floor jack as high as it will go
Arrange everything the way you like it
Tighten the bolts
Remove the jack
This should help make the system hang higher. It's how I do my exhaust system to keep it above or equal to the subframe height off the ground (my car is VERY low to the ground).

errr, with your exhaust problem, maybe choose a new muffler, like a glasspack, something more compact you can try to tuck up in one of the voids. and not to jack your thread or anything,but mr. moderator, im also having overheating problems and recently pulled the t-stat out, i understand it could effect milleage, but is it really " bad" for the engine??? my car isnt a daily driver so it will never see winter, is it a big deal, say if im not worried about mileage??
