thermostat housing problem

Default thermostat housing problem

i did my water pump and decided to change the thermostat when i put everything together and started it theres a **** stream shooting right out underneath the housing i tryed two different new gaskets and it didnt fix the problem
i tryed buyin a new housing and the one i got has a threaded hole at the top and my stock one doesnt
i really need help wit this i been witout my car for a week and i desperately need it

get a can of sealer caller "the right stuff" coat both sides of the gasket with it and tighten down housing evenly and let it set up/ dry for a few minutes, should work as long as intake has a true surface and isn't heavily pitted

Or you can just use RTV, or even double up the gaskets if you want to.

Just get a threaded plug to fill the hole on top of the housing ,seal the threads first. I think that is just the older style housing, I have the same one on my 93, because I cracked the original when tightening.

the moderator is right, the "right stuff" is AWSOME!!!!! its a black rtv from permatex. i used it on my thermostat housing, and one of my bolts is broke off in the manifold, i just rigged it bc i plan to get new intake soon.
