1993 5.0 Driving 5spd. to Indiana RT41 track day a week ago. Cruising with A/C going up the expressway with no problem and then there is pinging and smoke. This was only happening under a load (decent amount of throttle applied) but not happening under cruising load. Driver's side pinging and a lot of white smoke out the rear only, this was a frequently happing thing as I would lean on the hrottle in hopes that the car would hold but the pinging and smoke persisted. Hasnt happened since but just one ping on a third gear pull with minimal smoke. I took the car out for beating session since with no problems but why did I get the pinging and smoke is what I am thinking. Clutch felts gummy on and after this day. Car is maintained and was looking to hit my low 13s at the track but with all the frequent pinging and smoke I didnt want to deal with a 200 plus towing bill so I didnt run. I really thought there was a problem with this car that day but all symptoms are gone. Any idea would be great.

run a koer test and check for codes, if none try a good seafoam treatment or induction clean
