Default How do you tell if your car has a chip?

My tuner told me i need a chip in order for him to do a tune....... Where do i look to see if my car already has a chip in it, and how do i tell?

look in the j3 port on yhe side of the ecm, if it has one you'll know by look

What year is your car? I know on a 94-95 the computer is on the passenger side in the front side panel in front of the passenger door. Just pull the panel off and pull the computer down. When you look at the computer you should have a pretty easy time seeing if it has a chip because it will be obvious.

Exactly the answers i was looking for (except nitrous bob's).




It's very possible there's a chip in it. The old owner ****ed with it to death, im trying to sort through everything.

On the Fox body cars, it bolts in between the haeness and ECM. I had one for a minute and it didn't help at all. (Speed density then)

^^^^I'll say.........I have one in mine and they peeled open the side to plug it in and it's a blue micro chip that'll fit in the palm of our hand
