Car won't shift into any other gear but 4th. What could be the cause?

I own a 1988 LX with a 302 engine. It was running fine until I decided to punch it. I accelerated it and it took off. I believe I shifted inproperly. Now I can't get it to go into 1st, 2nd or 3rd. What could be wrong? Any possible solutions? IF I do have to replace the trans what would you recommend for LX with a 302 engine?

A shift fork? How difficult is this to repair? Should I start hunting in the junk yards for a new trans?

I would look into swapping to a tko just for the future plans.

Possibly a bent shift fork or rail, I think the T5's(if that's what you have) use a single rail system. And yeah, if you plan on making more power later on, you might want to think about an upgrade now.

you might want to go with a tremec 3550 if the funds are too tight for a tko 5 or 6

you'll have to take the trans. apart to fix it

isnt this also a symptom of a snapped or damaged input shaft, i had a T5 Rebuild read up that said he ****ed up his input and it only gave him 4th, just a thought

no, symptom of a broken or stripped cluster gear.

no cause 4th is part of the input shaft
