Default High-idle

1992 GT idles at 1400 rpm. How the hell can I fix this? WAY to high for my liking.

I know that it can't be adjusted, so says the repair book, but there has got to be a way.

Check your base timing first. You can also try adjusting the idle screw or it might also be your idle air control. You might be able to clean the IAC or just get a new one.

Make sure to check your TPS voltage and verify it's correct.

Timing does play a part in ur idle like said above.. 1400rpm idle is alot. So make sure ur timing is good before u set the base idle. You will get better results in the end

To set the base idle I always unhooked the negative cable for a few mins and then unplug the IAC. With the IAC unplugged reconnect the negative cable and start the car. Now u can adjust ur base idle with the idle screw. After u get the car to idle where u want it u can turn the car off and reconnect the IAC. Now ur done. With the IAC reconnected start her back up and take her around the block.

Hope this helps some.
