Default 1990 GT running problem

Hi All,

I have a 1990 GT that I just purchased, and I seem to have an interesting problem. With the Mass Air Sensor plugged in, it idles like it has a big cam installed, and when I press the accelerator to the floor (WOT) it will not rev past 2300rpm. If I unplug the sensor, it idles perfect (750rpm) no stumble or hiccup at all, and it revs to redline perfectly. When driving the car on the road with the Mass Air unplugged, it is a monster, but when it is plugged in, it jerks and stumbles and has no power and wont go past 2300rpm. I've bought three (3) Mass Air sensors and tried them all, with the same result. I rechecked the timing (12 degrees), and replaced the cap and rotor. I have a MSD 6al and ordered a MSD coil that I have not installed yet. What suggestions do ya'll have for me to try next?

PS I ran the codes and the only code I'm getting is the code 91 HEO2 lean

Thanks,

38 views and no suggestions? I guess it's time to park it...

No codes besides 91 and 11 when the MAF is plugged in and also unplugged?

Hope it's not a computer issue. If the car runs fine when the MAF is unplugged, the coil isn't to blame.

When the MAF is unplugged, it throws the Mass Air voltage low code. I'm going to replace the computer and see what happens. Thanks for the info, I'll keep you updated.
