Default Clutch wear

I'm looking at a 5 speed 5.0 tomorrow and i have never owned a stick car, so I'm woundering how to tell if the clutch is good. Like if it's good should it grab towards the bottom meaning at the floor, or at the top? Sorry for the noob question

The only noob question is the question not asked

A properly adjusted clutch will grab in the middle of the pedals travel.

If it grabs right off the floor it's usually poorly adjusted. If it grabs at the top it is most likely worn out.

When you put your foot on the clutch it should feel fairly easy until you get to about the brake pedal (in the fox body cars) then stiffen up the rest of the way down(this would indicate a properly adjusted clutch, then you're able to tell if it's worn out i.e it grabs at the top)

However...if it's adjusted correctly and worn out it could feel just like how I described so in that case when I'm testing a stick car go find a road, put it in 4th at low speeds and floor it. If the car starts picking up speed then the clutch is good and will have some life left. If RPM's just slip up and the cars speed doesn't increase much then the clutch is toast.(not literally toast. I drove my car around for 2k from when it started slipping until it was an un drivable amount of slipping.)
