How to use 2.02 valves on stock pistons
I have a 93 engine and want to go with AFR 185's. What would i have to do to notch the pistons? Do I have to remove the pistons and take to a machine shop or is it something I can do with the block in the car. I was going just go with the 165's but the 185's are almost the same price and one day I am getting a 347 short block and the 165's would be too small

best way for now, have a custom cam made, if your not capable of notching yourself once you get the cam you want and pay for notching you'll have more than the price of a custom cam, I had a friend who had a CI cam with over .550 lift and 2.02 valves and mild on the duration 215-220 ish and the valve events were such that ptv was not an issue

There are two other alternatives you might like to ponder.........
1. TFS TW 170 heads + OTS cam (PtV is usually not a problem even with its 2.02 valve) and 1.7 rockers or stock cam and 1.7 rockers. They will also provide the goods to the 347 you plan to do.
2. TFS TW 190 "fast as cast" heads + stock HR cam + 1.7 rockers.... no PtV issues + you will be more than ready for the 347 plans.
