Im having some trouble with my car under acceleration. When i drive it normally it feels alittle held back but still runs ok. But at certain times when i start to give it alot gas on second gear it will bog down and not go anywhere. The rpms drop to about 1000 and just bogs. Its a 1990 5.0 lx stick shift. Ive recently changed my intake manifold cause it was cracked and causing my car to backfire. It still backfires at times mostly in the rain thou. Im also running the car without the aftermarket filter at the moment because when i had it on it would backfire more often. I want to get this fixed but am not to sure whats the problem. I also have a bad rear main seal causing the car to leak oil and smoke alittle i dont know if that has anything to do with it. I brought the seal and am going to put on this weekend but i would like to take care of that backfire and bogging issue to. Any help would be appreciated. ty

It sounds alot like a timing issue. Maybe some new plugs and wires will help.

could be a fuel pump getting weak causing a lean pop out the back and no fuel at other times

i would try a maf if I had one lying around

maybe check the fuel pump relay too

Rear main seals ftl. That's not your problem but have fun taking the tranny/clutch out.

come to think of it the fuel pump has been making a sort of whining noise now once i drive it for awhile. It stays whining intil i turn off the car. Is the whining sound a sign that its about to kick the bucket?

mine whines all the time. . . If you have noticed something different, I would definatly take a look at it.
