yes coolant flows through the upper radiator hose i think because it is hot. if i replace the thermostat with a 180 what else willl that affect? i guess im asking what exactly does it mean to have a 180 degree thermostat, does it mean your car waits longer before using coolant.

the oppisite, it wont let coolant sit long enough in the radiator to cool off, the stock thermostat is fine if it works, 5.0s like to run hot

The stock is a 195. It just means that the t-stat will open a little bit earlier. It won't have any effect really on driveability.

Not at all, but that just means coolant isn't in the hose. Could be the hose is a little worn and it couldn't hurt to replace but I doubt it'll fix the problem.

Try getting a new radiator cap. Maybe it isn't keeping pressure.
