If it is a 79 block no don't put a roller cam in it. What are your plans and what is your budget on this build?

If you go with a roller cam, you will have to do 1 of 2 things, drill and tap holes in the lifter valley so a spider can be bolted on (factory style roller lifters), or you will have to purchase link bar type roller lifters. Either way, it's going to cost you more money to convert to a roller cam, than just staying with a flat tappet cam. There are lots of chioces out there for flat tappet cams for your 302. Your money would be best spent elsewhere.
