Default idle problems/acceleration problems

i have a 89 lx hatch 5.0, it is idling rough, i bought a new iac and installed it but when i plug it in the car idles worse and dies, and when i try to accelerate it sputters and falls on its face and then takes off, any ideas maybe the egr? When the IAC is plugged and i am driving it the acceleration problem is better, but the idle is screwed any ideas
