firing order is different, so it must have a different crankshaft

Crank is the same. Different cams to change the firing order(compression on one cylinder becomes exhaust etc). Carb it's easy, HO cam and rewire the distributor, with EFI not so much, you can't just swap injector wiring because it screws up readings from the O2 sensors. It's an issue going from the HO to non HO firing order, but I dunno if it's true going the other way.

The only thing different mechanically is the camshaft.

cam change, computer change, fire order change. thats it for efi non-h.o. to h.o.

so if you pull a motor out of a non ho car and put it in an ho computer ready car, all you need to change is the cam and fire order

And intake. The TB and ports in the intake are smaller in a non-HO 5.0 such as a Crown Vic, T-bird, Cougar, etc. The HO was only offered in Mustangs and Mark VII's (87-up)
The injectors are smaller too, only 14lb instead of 19lb.

the cam changes the firing order all you have to do is move the plug wires on the distributor cap the match the new firing order

thanks guys. so would i need to swap over the 19lb injectors in the current 5.0HO engine to the one i would change into a HO?

My engine was ran hard and is startin to wear out on me and this seems like a good solution to the prob. i want a blank engine that i can upgrade myself.
