Default will it b ok to run a spool on the street.?

im looking to upgrADE my rear. new ring and pinion,31 spline 5 lug axles.c clip eliminaters. and i was wondering if i ran regular street tires can i run a spool? they are cheap and no need in rebuilding (like the trac-loc).i will be useing a moser or strange axle. not junk yard ranger axles.

You'll have to be careful in the rain and you'll be chirping the tires on tight corners. If it's a dd I wouldn't, but that's just me.

I've got a locker in my Chevelle and those don't even go through turns that well.

I've seen enough guys break axles from running a spool in the street that my answer is no.

Seems hard to imagine an axle taking launches and surviving but breaking from turning corners on the street but it happens.

i had a buddy who ran a spool in his cougar. it was a daily driver and it had some huge tires on it. besides the turning radius being huge, it wasnt that bad. if you take turns slow it never made any noise.

I have been doing it for years. First with 31 spline and now with 33 spline and have not had any issues other then the tires scrubbing in tight turns and tight turns can be a pain in the *** at time like in a parking lot. it does bind everything up and make some strange sounds some times but I keep a eye on things the torque boxes all look good and the rest of the stuff looks fine also. but like said be careful on even damp roads. It is more of a pain in the butt then anything my wife drives it so it cant be that bad LOL
