Exclamation Stang will not turn over! KILLS ALL POWER

Hey guys and gals, I am new to this forum, however I am not new to the FOX Mustang. I have an ignition problem that is most baffling. New battery, new starter, new ignition solenoid. I turn the key and get all the chimes and lights I should. As soon as I attempt to start my baby I get a soft click and all power dies. When I remove the key I get nothing and I have to disconnect the battery and reconnect it to try again. Needless to say I have have the batt., starter, cables tested. Any clues, am I missing something simple. Please help. This car is stating to aggrivate my wife.

Thanks,

Rob

are you sure you have the wires hooked up correctly on the starter solenoid?

Default my thoughts

Thats what I was thinkin, I have tried tearing into the wiring harness and isolating it, I am an electrician by trade, so you'd think it would be easy. Anywhere in particular sound like a suspect. Ignition switch in the column, harness links in through the firewall, anything???

make sure your solenoid wires are connected right make sure you don't have a pos or neg on the wrong side of the terminal, I am a electrician also (commercial) but i have had the same problems as you and let me tell you its a pain in the ***, I know where your coming from, were both "sparkies" but it doesn't mean anything when it comes to vehicle electrical, been there done that.

this was happening to me the other day! turns out my battery cables were trash. try swapping them, or reclamping the tip to a better part of the cable

i agree sounds like a ground. i take it you dont have a switch for an amp or anything like that running to the battery. ive seen one of those go bad and causing the same prob.

so, i disconnected the starter cable from the ignition solenoid and fluked it. i got 0.1 ohms to ground. bad! i took the cable off the starter and fluked the starter and i get 0.1 ohms to ground. how! whats the deal. im pretty sure it shouldnt read a ground on the connection point. its a new starter too

when you fluked the cable you said you disconnected it from the solenoid but was it still on the starter. if so thats why you had .1 ohm on both.
