turn signals screwy
What could be causing this?: my turn signals have decided to have a mind of their own. Some days they work with no issues, and other days i either have to play with the key or physically move the steering column up and down till they start working again.

since you mentioned the key, it sounds like the tumbler is loose, not fully diverting power to the ignition switch. my car does the same thing, except my fuel gauge doesn't work until i play with the key a bit.
replacing the lock cylinder should fix it.

I have a 94 gt so i can't remember what your hazard switch looks like if it is on top of the steering colum on the bottom? Mine is on top and has a tendancy to collect dust all around it. One day after I had the hazards on I noticed that my left turn arrow was not working at all. I cycled the hazard switch on-off a dozen times and it seems to have cleaned it out and I have had no problems since.

I've had the same problem before on my 91. Pull the plastic shroud off of your steering column and follow the wires that lead from your ignition switch. They will lead to a metal two piece plug that sometimes works loose on one side or the other. Push it back together and ping the lip over to keep the two halves tight and secure and that should make the connection for your turn signals. Hope that makes sence and helps you out.

The connector where all those wires come out on your column for the ignition switch (you'll notice it by the couple big yellow power wires) are notorious for becoming loose on mustangs. They are held in place by 4 small aluminum prongs which are a pretty horrible design imo, over time they bend out making the contacts not touch completely. Some people just push it back up & use a zip tie to hold it in place.
If that doesn't fix it, you could always run your own 12v wire to a flasher, then up to your turn signal. The turn signal switch uses 5 wires, one power wire & 4 grounds (one for each corner) I think they're green, green/white, orange, orange/white, & red. Don't quote me on the colors... it's been a while since i've re wired a fox mustang dash. Just look for the connector with 5 wires. The 12v power wire will be the only wire with it's color, the other 4 are pair matching. (like two will have green, two will have orange)
