1994 GT Tranny problem
I have a 94 GT Boss stang. My 1st to 2nd gear sinks are going out and i was wondering if a 03/04 cobra tranny would fit in my car. i know my year had the t-5 or t-45 trans. i need to replace my old one soon (within 50k miles) and was hoping to hear a lot of ideas of a replacement or rebuilt tranny, what parts i need so on and so forth. let me know soon!
Thanks
Thanks

Your car comes with a T-5. 03-04 Cobras use a T-56. You can put one in your car, but you need a conversion kit. Sites like 5speedtransmissions.com or ddperformance.com sell complete kits for the t-56 swap into your car. I got my tko600 from ddperformance, if i was going to do it over again I would have gone with the t-56 though. You could also just have your t-5 built with stronger internals, I know you can get g-force internals or special internals from astroperformance.com.

OK thanks, but seeing how i don't have 3.5k to drop on a new tranny i think i will go with the t-5 rebuild kit. But another question comes to mind because on my identify sticker the transmission number reads "PJH66". Now i read on American muscle that having a 5 indicated me having a t-5 and a 6 indicated me having a t-45...but this isn't the case. So do i still have a t-5 transmission?

you have a T5. the T45 was just for the modular powered Mustangs before they went to the 3650. these trans are 94/95 specific, DO NOT bolt up a fox trans and then complain that it doesnt work.
if youre going to drop money into the trans, why not get a good one like a TKO600 or a T56 Magnum. theres no point into dropping $1k on a trans several times vs. buying one good one for 3500 and being done with it.
the fact that your current trans is on its way out makes me think you should go with a better trans from the get go...
